From my point of view, access to relevant agricultural information technologies, for all food products and especially within the cassava value chain, can be a promising approach to improved food security; and bringing together practitioners, decision-makers, extensionists, youth and women, in a forum to find ways of improving the cassava value chain – as CTA and partners are doing with this meeting – is very important.

RDC : Manioc, ce n’est pas l’affaire du producteur seul

La population africaine de manière générale augmente d’une manière plus exponentielle que sa production alimentaire. Et la part du continent dans les échanges mondiaux de produits agricoles recule. Le défi pour le manioc n’est pas seulement de « doubler, tripler, quadrupler les rendements ou développer des variétés résistantes et améliorées ». Il faut aussi s’assurer que les liens sont resserrés entres les petits producteurs, les chercheurs et l’état car il existe un vrai fossé.
